8/30/09 - BURNING MAN
Well the time has come for yet another year at Burning Man! This year I get to perform at Center Camp Wednesday at 1pm! I am very excited to go, to play, everything! The tour was fabulous and I am still high from it. I met so many great people and learned so much about myself. I learned a lot about taming my ego and the first step was recognizing it when it showed up. And boy did it show up and boy was it hollerin! They says lots of musicians have ego. It's tough performing and having people watch you and judge you and your music. We all want to be loved.
On the road this summer I really learned about self-acceptance. I had to say to myself, "This is what comes through me. This music. And only I can perform it. Either people are going to like it or they won't. And that's not up to me." I realized I hit a point in my career where this IS ME! This is it! I can flub a line or a riff and it will still be me and still be my songs, Take it or leave it. And with that realization there was a calmness and a peace that developed. I play music. That is what I do. And I am playing it for you. Thanks for letting me play it for you tonight in this place and at this time. Thanks to spirit for my health and energy level. Gratitude.
So I bring to Burning Man, ME. Plain and simple. I said to my friend Stacey Evans at her house in Austin, "Stacey, I have come to realize lately that I don't need to be something anymore, I am something."

LA WOMAN SUMMER TOUR UPDATE -
Facebook Page
& official tour website
Wow! Well we are five shows into the tour and Amanda Abizaid and I are having a blast! We had a small mishap in Ellenville, NY coincidently. As most of you know, I wrote a song with my Uncle called "Ellenville." I was so excited to finally see the town during our trip to upstate NY. Well during a photo shoot in Ellenville, I dropped, yes dropped my Taylor guitar and created a 2 inch hole in the body of the guitar. For very upsetting pictures, please go to our tour facebook page. LA Woman Summer Tour Facebook.
I have moved on from that sadness and rightly so!! We had a great gig at Jumpin' Java in West Virginia last night. Thanks to all who came out. And we are ready to rock Alexandria VA!
In other news, my interview with Womens Radio.com is now available for a listen. Click here to listen to the interview by Brian Ball. Thanks Brian!
And thanks to everyone for making this tour a blast!
7/1/09 - LA WOMAN SUMMER TOUR - tour FACEBOOK PAGE & official tour websiteThings are really manifesting and the tour has come together easily and effortlessly. Amanda and I are booking interviews and our tour schedule is just about complete. I have created us a tour facebook page and official tour website. I dubbed the tour "LA WOMAN SUMMER TOUR" after one of my favorite bands, The Doors, and since we are truly both LA WOMEN. Amanda will be interviewed by Brian Ball of LA Women's Radio Network tomorrow. We'll be posting the interview on our website when we get the audio. I am truly so grateful that my music is getting out there to people this summer. Finally it will be heard. I had a great interview last weekend in Sag Harbor. I hope the article will get published in a few magazines. I will keep you posted. I am loving every second of this. Until the tour officially launches on August 4th at American Trash, I am in New York working on the tour and playing a few gigs. You can catch me at The Wicked Monk July 17th and August 1st. Please email me if you have any questions about the tour or want to help out! We'd love to have you!
So excited! Things are really manifesting these days. Peter and I are almost finished with this round of songs in the studio and they are coming out spectacular. Singer/Songwriter Amanda Abizaid and myself are doing a Summer tour down the east coast of the US stopping Nashville for the 2009 Indie Grrl Conference on August 20th and then continuing on the southern route across Louisiana, Texas, and Arizona on the way back to Los Angeles. We'll be twittering and facebooking our advertures so make sure to sign up as our friends on Facebook if you haven't already. BE A FAN ON FACEBOOK!
I am knee deep in the studio with Peter DiStefano (Porno for Pyros) and we are cutting some killer new tracks as well as polishing up some old ones. Some of the oldies but goodies we have polished are: All Alone, Nothings Gonna Change, Security, Gemini, I Realize, In Memoriam, Wishin, and Til The Morning. Ellenville and my new song "It's Time" are finally going to be laid down good and proper. I am so excited about that. Along with some tracks I wrote back in 2004 which have been nothing but word and chords on paper up until this point. I can't wait to share them with you. We are shooting for completion in April afterwhich I plan on spending the summer in NY playing shows in NYC and Fire Island.
Come fall there is a either an East Coast tour in the works OR I shall make an appearance at Burning Man. Soooo tempting. Last year we got nailed with dust storms so it was pretty difficult for me. I was doing breathwork and energy healing as we were whipped with the most intense dust storms i have ever experienced at the burn. Not sure I want to brave that again this year with my mesh tent. Either way, If I do go, you can find me at Lenny Camp this year. I plan on jammin the week away. We'll be sitting outside Lenny camp with Bloody Marys and just about every classic rock cover song. So come on by and sing with us.
On another note, I don't know if most of you know, I am a raw food vegan mostly. I just made a killer collard green wrap. Raw food is the greatest gift. Jason Mraz is also a raw foodist. If you are interested in learning more about raw food, Gabriel Cousens from Tree of Life Rejuventation Center is speaking at The Yoga Kingdom where I teach on March 1st at 7:30pm in Pasadena, CA. They are also having a green juice fast at Agape Spritual Center in Los Angeles. To learn more about the juice fast or to get started with raw please check out www.gabrielcousens.com or go to www.treeoflife.nu. I have learned so much from these people and get more into raw food everyday. I seriously just created a master piece wrap. I wish more people knew how to eat like this. It cures disease from Diabetes, to cancer , to depression, and more. And all you have to do is eat what's on God's green earth!!
Anyway, not to overwhelm you guys so I am out of here. Hope to see more of you this summer. Lots of Shows coming up. I just booked another gig through Songsalive at Hallenbecks & Cahuenga General Store here in LA on April 3rd and Monogroove is playing at the 1st Annual Veggie Pride Parade in Venice, CA this year. I cannot wait for that.
Be Peace. Live Peace. Love Yourself!!
-StephanieStarting work on some new and polishing already created material. For the first three months of 2009 I will be in the studio working with amazing producer Peter DiStefano (Porno For Pyros). I am super excited about the refurbishing we are going to do on some old tunes. Also we are producing several of my new songs.
My manager and I plan on touring quite a bit this year. Coming up in March , I'll be in Pheonix performing in International Pop Overthrow. And in The spring I have tentative plans to tour England and Ireland, also making an appearance in IPO Liverpool.
I am so grateful for my band, my friends, and all the support of my fans. I'm staying on a raw food diet mostly with help from my friends at the Tree of Life Rejuvenation Center.I am hoping it will keep me nice a strong for all the touring I have planned for this year. I hope to play Bumpershoots festival in Seattle this fall helping out the environment in anyway I can. Looks like it's starting out to be a great year. Remember to be grateful for every moment, every breath. We only get this moment. This life. Enjoy and be happy!
PS. on another note: after 7 years, I finally posted my Entertainment Tonight Video from 2002. You can check it out on my myspace page or right here
11/01/08 - Receive and Rejuvenate
I've played quite a few shows this year. Everyweekend I was rehearsing with Monogroove and my solo project. And my third album, "In the Garden" is calling my name in the distance. It's not yet mature but it's a seed. I am learning to take time to myself and breathe. That is when I write my songs. I have gained so much experience this year from all the performing, traveling, and touring. I am embarking on a new journey in my personal life that will hopefully reflect into my music. I am very grateful for all I have experienced so far. In the meantime, please enjoy what I have already created. It would be my pleasure to discuss with you any questions you may have about the lyrics, content, or whatever you wish to discuss about my music. My heart is open and I am present to receive. Lots of Love to All of you. May your world be filled with love and music. Namaste, Stephanie.
6/29/08 - Re-birthIt's been 9 months since I have blogged on my website. I am a different person to say the least. Ready to take on the country this year. I am touring for the first time and feeling pretty adventurous about it. I hope you will join me in this experience. Email me your thoughts on the places in your town that rock to hear live acoustic music in. I am coming solo for this first round. Plans are in the works to travel to London, Liverpool, Maryland, Florida, New York, and possibly Virginia. Life is what you make it. And I am creating a Brand New World.
9/19/07 - Stephanie on hiatus from her solo project. Singing with pop band Monogroove.Ok so it's been two months since I've written which makes this an officially lame blog. But I have good reason. After five years of doing this professionally, I just needed to get some space, take some time and reflect. I was becoming a bit jaded. My material seemed old and I wasn't in the same emotional state as when I wrote my songs. I was so busy doing show and trying to "make things happen," that I lost site of what my intentions really were. The truth is that my intentions changed in regards to the music biz.
When I started writing songs in 2002, getting them out there seemed the next logical step. Then like any good Aries would do, I just dove in head first without looking or stopping to think about what it was I really wanted to create. In diving in head first, many things as of late were brought to my awareness. We are habitual creatures if we live our lives unaware. And as the same pattern kept repeating in my music career and I was met with repeated frustration, I decided to take a step back and reflect on what really makes me happy in music. Coincidently at the same time, Monogroove offered me a spot singing in their band which matched the exact intentions of what I wanted to create in music at this time. Monogroove is a very pro, collaborative band where I can sing and help write songs if need be. Most importantly, it's a collaborative situation. Everyone does their part and pulls their weight. I think part of my frustration was that I was doing it ALL. Managing my career, publicizing it, financing it, writing the songs, singing and performing the songs. TOO MUCH!! It's taken me two months just to write this blog because I was sick of promoting.
So, as I get the space and time I need to reflect and perhaps write some new songs that come from an entirely different space, I invite you to check out the tunes of Monogroove and come see us perform at your leisure. They are really a spectacular band and blast to work with. I've never had so much fun in a project. Truly inspiring. Perhaps one day I can bring some beautiful lessons an inspirations from Monogroove back into my solo project. Until then, please enjoy my creations of the last 5 years.
